They include honey, pollen, rose, bee's milk, wax, homogenate, propolis, bee-dead, ore, wax moth, bee venom, bee air, bee vibrations, and more. But we will focus here on honey here.

     The mission of bees is to pollinate. Bees are controlled by plants. Each plant fascinates the bees by emitting beautiful fragrances and growing flowers with eye-catching colors. Honey produced by syruping your bees cannot be 100 % natural honey. If you have such a product the customer should know it. Otherwise, you are a fraud. This is not only a violation of the law, but also morally.

     It is difficult to sell food products that are not properly branded. Choose a name and stick to it. It does not have to be original. It could be the name of the village where you live, your mountain, your tribe and so on. When you choose a name choose it once, so you do not have to change it later. If the name number or address is changed it can lead to customer loss. If you choose a new name, you should get a new number. This is better than using your old number. Let the mobile operator be the one your customers use the most. Now you need a designer. He will add value to your product by designing a logo to go with your name. Your logo will be in your favor if it is simple, clear, and used as much as possible. Designers can give you better suggestions and lots of information about it. The important thing here is not to change this logo for at least 5-10 years. That is why it is necessary to see this work in superior quality. I admit that I made this mistake. 

     Along with the brand name and logo the slogan is also an essential element. The slogan is a small idea that will explain your product. Let us say you are from Ormeshan village. Your slogan can be from “Ormeşən dağlarından” Or it is possible to choose a slogan such as “Arılardan süfrənizə”, “Çiçək-çiçək topladıq”.

     Let the designer know the slogan as well. The designer should also make labels for you. These labels will be placed on your product. It will contain the name of the brand, slogan name of the honey, weight place and time of collection which flowers it is collected from your number social media addresses and website, if any. Having social media pages and having a site will give you additional customers. Pages should be constant, not changed often and match the brand name.

     You may have different approaches to choosing the name of the honey. Depending on the region of accumulation you can choose such names as “Ağstafa honey”, “Faxralı honey”, “Qazax mountain honey”, “Alazani honey”. There is also a choice based on the time collection. Names like “May honey” and “Summer Honey” are given in particular. Sometimes they add the region to the beginning of these names. Or you can name it after the flower that forms the base of the honey. “Akasiya bal”, “biyan balı”, “qaratikan balı”, etc. names are widespread. Forest- meadow honey, flower honey, meadow honey can be one of the options for you. The important things here are honesty and consistency. Honesty is that you will not sell acacia honey under the name of blackthorn and linden honey under the name of acacia. It is important to be able to offer customers the same taste and name of honey every year. This continuity will keep the customer hooked to you. True, nature does not give you the same kind of harvest every year. If the honey is different every year it should be explained to the customers.

     The weight of honey is usually 1 kg, 400-500 g and smaller. When packing it should include at least two weights. This allows the customer to buy according to their financial means. In Europe it is mostly presented in smaller sizes. 250 – 500-gram packages are preferred. In countries like Azerbaijan and Georgia it is mainly sold in 1 kg containers.

     Honey pots will be mostly glass. It can also be sold in plastic containers. These containers must be suitable for food. Honey to be sold in containers with a narrow mouth should not be stored. This is not possible on small farms. Therefore, the most suitable options are glass jars and plastic containers with large mouths.

     After filtering honey, it is important to store honey mainly in food-grade plastic containers, wooden barrels, glass containers and energy containers during the period until packaging. Aluminum cans, single layers and colored plastic containers are not suitable for honey storage.

     When filling honey there should be gloves, clean white clothes should be worn, the mouths of honey containers should not be left open for a long time, dust and foreign substances should be minimized into the honey. Because we are a manufacturer of “unwashed products”. Containers to be filled with honey should be sterilized and completely clean. The jars you sell honey should not be second hand. Honey is a product that attracts moisture and smell! This should be considered when storing and packing honey!

     Containers should be packaged as close in such a way as to communicate to the customer “you are the first to open the lid after packaging”. Indeed, the packaging and lid should only be opened by the customer. To do this you either need to connect the lid with the label on the jar or tie the paper or cloth covering the lid with string. Another method is to put hard cellophane on the lids of the jar which is secured by applying heat.

     Most people believe that the ideal temperature for storing honey is room temperature. I do not agree with that. Lower temperature is better. I would keep all points at +5 if possible. The curdling of honey is delayed if the useful elements in it are better protected. In the worst situation, store it in dark and cool rooms. Transparent containers should not be exposed to direct sunlight. High temperature and sunlight are the most damaging elements to honey. Demand compliance with these rules in the shops where you sell the product wholesale.

     The main condition for selling honey is a wide scope. Azerbaijanis mostly get honey from a “familiar”. This is a problem in the honey market. There are many customers who are scammed using friendship. You can increase sales by taking advantage of this challenge. That is, there is a chance to win new customers through familiar people. Your website and social media accounts can also increase your customers. For this you can take advantage of the work of professional food producers and sellers. In addition, you can find people who are sellers of your products. Offer them honey at a reasonable price. They can buy honey from you and retail it with a minimum of 50 kg. Wholesale honey prices should be 40-50 percent cheaper than retail.

     A beekeeper should choose professionalism, development, scientific approach, invest in farming and be open to innovations. Most importantly they should produce a clean product! Pure and natural! Cleanliness means staying away from artificial products and following hygienic rules.
